Natalie

I am stuck.. For some reason, every now and then, when I
log onto my screen, a text box will pop up and say "your
password will expire in 14 days, do you want to change it
now?" I dont know WHY this comes up, cuz I dont even
remember setting a password anywhere!! Each time this
has happened, I have gotten it to stop by clicking "no"
(I do not want to change it now), then I log on, and go
to control panel, where I "create a password". Next day,
I will remove that password, and the pop up wont come on
for a few months again..

Well, this time when it came up, I had been away for
awhile, and now, I have passed the "14 days", and it
tells me the password is expired and I must create a new
one. PROBLEM IS, I have no idea what password it is
talking about, I have tried every password I normally
use, and nothing works! I thought about trying a system
restore or something, maybe I could take my
computer "back in time" and do my create a password
trick, but I am the only administrator on this computer,
so what the heck do I do??

I cant get any of my documents, or access my regular
email account.. I am totally lost and frustrated as to
what to do, and any help or suggestions would be GREATLY
APPRECIATED!! THank you......

Log on as Administrator, go to Control Panel-Users and reset your
username password. You can choose the option to "remove" your password
if you want.

Hi Natalie,

Go to Start/Run/CMD and type in: net accounts /maxpwage:unlimited.

More information here:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/win_xp_passwords.htm
Why not just log in as Administrator and change the details on the User?
Why all this command line stuff? If the OP isn't sure about passwords
then surely the far more intuitive thing to do is to use Control panel,
then the OP will see all the options available and perhaps learn
something about XP. They certainly won't learn anything with all this
command-line stuff.
