I can import .avi files but I cannot see the video only HEAR it. It works
fine on windows movie player, not movie maker though. Am I missing a codec?
has this happened to anyone before? If someone could help me out, I'd
apppreciate it.

Maybe the following freebie would tell
you if you need a codec:

If that's not the problem...try reducing
your Graphics Hardware Acceleration
as per the instructions in the following
article.

(272193) PI: How to Troubleshoot
Graphics Issues

(scroll down to:
Microsoft Windows 2000 and Windows XP)

If it improves the issue, you need to search
the support website of your Video adapter's
mfg. for an updated video driver.

I'd say the codec is alreay on the pc, as you can play the file in wmp, but
MM is different and cannot use all the codecs that WMP can, so I suspect the
file is perhaps a divx.avi or something similar, which isn't compatible with
MM and you need to convert it to wmv to be able to use it.
