How do I get my computer to stop the setup process? It
hangs in Processing Network at 31 minutes. I've tried
waiting it out (over night). I have tried turning it off
and restarting with the F8 key pressed, the F12 key
pressed, the F7 key pressed and everything that isn't
necessary unplugged. The cancel button that comes up if I
removed the Windows XP disk doesn't work. I have no Start
button - no way to get to restore....... any other
suggestions would be appreciated -- anything short of
throwing it out the window that is!

Hello Mary,
When you get the hang at 31 minutes remaining, open a CMD-prompt by
entering shift-F10.
Take a look at the bottem of the following log files>
Setupapi.log
Setuplog.txt
Setupact.log
and look at the pnplog.txt if this one exists.
What is at the end of each of these files? The last 10 lines or so.
These should help us determine what setup is trying to do when the hang
occurs.
Thanks,
Darrell Gorter[MSFT]

| Removing the modem didn't work either. I have(had)
| Windows XP on my computer from the factory - but in the
| process of removing an old program yesterday (one that I
| put on the computer, but it never worked correctly) I
| inadvertently deleted a driver that the computer seemed to
| want pretty badly. I searched the Windows XP disk and
| found several verions of that driver, but since I didn't
| know which one to use I followed the (recommended)
| suggestion to do a dynamic update.
|
| Is there no way to break through -- I'll do almost
| anything at this point!! Help!!
