I recently bought an AGP video card only to find that i don't have an
AGP port on my mother board. The shop won't take the card back. Is
there any thing that can be done at all for this, any kind of adapter
or anything?

Nope...

Why won't the retailer take it back? You might have to pay a 10% restocking
fee, etc.

Two other choices... new mainboard OR sell it.

That's the whole reason for buying from a retailer! If you want that sort of
crap service you can buy second hand or from a market. Push them a bit more,
they'll take it back. Here in australia they have to take it back if you can
prove the product is unsuitable for your needs. You might have to get a
credit or exchange it for other goods. Although, is all the packaging in
good condition or did they have to order it in special for you?

There is no adapter, it just won't work without an AGP slot.

"Shop"? Surely if you insist, they'd take it back. Ask
harder. Ask them why they won't. If it entails a
restocking fee, that is to be expected.

If all else fails, buy a motherboard can can use your CPU,
fits in your case and has AGP slot, or sell the card on eBay
or other auction 'site.

I think that you're out of luck unless the store told you that the card
would work in your computer or if they have a policy posted or printed
somewhere that allows for refunds. But I've never known of any
legitimate dealer not allowing returns, at least for credit, except on
close-out items.

Go back into the shop.Open a box that has a card you can use.Swap
with the card you can't use and F**K the retailer for being a jerk!
