Hi
at every bootup I get a message from MS Antispyware "Remove spyware threat
iLookup.GlobalWebSearch".
I choose "remove" and get a message that this has been done.
Next bootup same deal.
How do I remove this "thing" "with prejudice"?
Using XP.

thanks

You have your 'real time engine' running. Just disable real time shield.
You should just run your scan often however the more you have running in the
back ground the slower your system. You can run scan and this same thing
will pop up after reboot without deleting at the boot up warning. Just
choose to ignore this item after scan. Could be anything from some back
ground game crap you have or even just a simple weather software of some kind.

Thanks Tony and Mike for the info.

A scan after the remove finds nothing.
Haven't tried not removing, and not sure I want to.
Incidentally a reboot after a remove, without going on the web, gets the
message, so there is "something" resident on my machine.
I don't think I'm infected, in the sense that the browser has been modified.
Probably because I've always chosen to remove.
But there must be something resident on my machine causing or initiating
this attempt to modify the browser. How do I find it?
If I can find it then I can delete it, whatever it is, if it is not useful.
Any thoughts?
thanks

Hello Barry,

Try this.

Get HijackThis.exe from
http://tomcoyote.org/hjt/hjt199//HijackThis.exe

Save it to C:\hjt (new folder) then Open it and select Scan and Save Log.

Note where you saved the log then send it to him as an attachment.

Put Hijack in the subject so he'll know it's not spªm.

Alternatively you can post it on the Dell Forum ªt:

http://forums.us.dell.com/supportforums/board?board.id=si_hijack

(if it wraps you can go tº:

http://tinyurl.com/ckuzq instead.)

Put Ron in the subject so he will see it.

You do not need to have a Dell to post but you will need to register.
