My power supply blew and fried my C drive. I bought a new power supply and installed Windows XP on an old spare drive and the computer was OK. The spare drive was too small so I bought a WD 120 GB drive and installed Windows XP on it and everything was still fine
I wanted to try to recover the fried C drive. so I wouldn't have to reinstall my programs and upgrades. I took the circuit board off the fried drive and replaced it with another from a similar drive. All the files were visible so I quickly used Drive Works Copy Commander to copy the fried drive to the 120 GB drive
When I booted the 120 GB drive the initial Windows screen looked fine, but when the desktop came up the screen was illegible. Although I can see the icons, there is too much flicker and fuzziness to tell what they are. I tried booting from the drive that had been fried and got the same result. I put in the old, too small, spare drive and everything was fine
I know many would say start fresh, but since I have "recovered" the files that were on the fried drive, I'd really like to be able to use them rather than start from scratch. I can access the files from DOS or from the old, too small drive
How can I fix the video problem
