I cannot run IE 6 for long since in every session I start
I receive the following message approx 10 min into the
session: ...performed an illegal operation...will shut
down. When I look at the details it tells me its a
KERNEL32.dll. I have downloaded both the SP1 and SP1
Update with no change. Made a change in the graphic
settings in the system, no change. What do I do???? short
of reformatting my hard drive. I think part of the problem
is I'm getting a lot of popups. I have used a variety of
popup blocker and they crash my system. Someone out there
could you please help me find a solution. Thanks and
cheers, Toni.

Toni,
Possibly caused by an adware, spyware, parasite program.
See:
Dealing with Unwanted Spyware and Parasites:
http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm

A legitimate program running in the background may be causing this. Disable
(for diagnostic purposes) programs such as pop-up blockers, security,
anti-virus, etc. Also... notorious for causing problems- Gator, Kazaa and
some others.

There are other possibilities for KERNEL32 errors:

Don

problem but are getting a different dll file (i'm getting
kernel32 like you). i have no idea what's wrong, but i
will let you know if i learn anything and hope you'll post
any news as well.
