I'll ask another way - My Desktop view has shrunk, showing 'My Computer'

Sounds weird huh? Sure does to me.

Anyway, I was having trouble getting XP PRO to remember my view
settings (eg maximized screen size), and I read in a post that holding
ctrl key down while exiting a given window would force XP to remember
that screen size setting on next open of the window - and it did!

Next thing I know my desktop display (icons) shrunk rightward leaving
the My Computer window showing on the left. In fact, I can even
enlarge the My Computer window with the mouse. But I don't want to.

It has everything in it that the normal 'My Computer' window contains.
And it is usable in same fashion.

I want to get rid of the darned extra window and get back to a full
sized desktop display.

How?

Dang!

I did just that - tried suggestion - did not apply to my problem.

I finally solved it myself - never did figure out why it happened in
the first place. It indeed was the MyComputer window.

If anyone is interested, which I doubt, I can post what I did -
otherwise I'm gone.
