ILINK has picture but no sound

Hi

I recently bought a Sony DCR-HC90E MiniDV camcorder. When I connect it to
the PC using ILINK and run WMM the video is there but there is no sound. The
same problem exist with two other softwares I have: Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 and
MGI VideoWave 4. The software that came with the camcorder is Pixela
PicturePackage and has both picture and sound which suggests to me that the
ILINK itself is ok and the problem with the other softwares lie somewhere
else. Unfortunately I can use PicturePackage since somehow the capture is
only limited to 10mins and I have not managed to change this. My prefered
solution is now to solve the sound problem of one of the other packages
preferably WMM. Please can anyone help. I have XP on my PC.

The Pixela software is only for capturing pictures from your
camcorders memory card.
The lack of audio via WMM/Ulead/Roxio- *maybe* a hardware setting?
So first we are going to try something simple.
In the system tray (Where the clock is) is there an icon for your
soundcard? If so, double-click it and a dialog for your soundcard
should appear, carefully rummage around the menu's.
You are looking for "Record Source" option,
you want the setting to be "Stereo Mix" (or something similar
sounding)
NOT: Mic/Line-in/Aux/Digital In/CD/ etc

I can't find any icon for soundcard in the system tray. Any ideas?
