IIS5 - WinXP Pro - Problem

I am battling to run IIS - have un/installed without success. I get HTTP 500 - Internal server error (with show http friendly errors off: Server Application Error - The server has encountered an error while loading an application during the processing of your request. Please refer to the event log for more detail information. Please contact the server administrator for assistance.
Event Viewer registers one warning and one error
WARNING
The server failed to load application '/LM/W3SVC/1/ROOT/IISHELP'. The error was 'The server process could not be started because the configured identity is incorrect. Check the username and password

Read thru and ran Synciwam.vbs but I get:
Error: 1AD: ActiveX component can't create object.

Any ideas? I am so lost.

I followed article 297989 and made the wam user password the same in Users and IIS (using the adsutil.vbs)

The problem now is with COM+ (if I understand correctly when I run Synciwam.vbs I get the 'ACTIVEX component can't create object' because the service for COM+ System Application is NOT running?

When I tried to start it in Services got error: 'Could not start COM+ System Application Service on your Local Computer Error 1067 : The process terminated unexpectedly

In MMC when I try to expand Component Services/Computers it disappears
- event viewer system error: 'The COM+ System Application service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 6 time(s).
- event viewer application shows a few errors, all re 'COM+ application is in an unstable state or is not functioning correctly' including 'catastrophic failure', ending with error:
'The run-time environment has detected an inconsistency in its internal state. This indicates a potential instability in the process that could be caused by the custom components running in the COM+ application, the components they make use of, or other factors. Error in d:\nt\com\com1x\src\comsvcs\package\cpackage.cpp(1181), hr = 80080005: InitEventCollector failed

The only 'closely' related article I found is 246499 - and not sure I am too wise to try

Is there any way I can recover COM+ components? What should I do next?

My windowsXP came with the lap top and I believe there is a recovery option but I am not sure what the impact of using it

I'm having the same problem when I run the script "synciwam.vbs". I searched the solution and nothing :(. Help-meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.
