Hello,
I am trying to find out if I have got PWS (Personal Web Server) running
correctly. I don't think so - but I don't know what to do.
I have installed IIS. But when I try to get a local site up, it says it
cannot find the file. I see nothing.
Using administrative Tools from the Control Panel I have taken a good look
at the settings of the IIS. But I don't understand any of it. In the IIS
window I see a folder with the name of my computer. Underneath there is a
subfolder 'Web Sites.' In there there is one red sign that says " 'error' -
default website (stopped)." When I right click on this and hit start I get a
message: "unexpected error 0x8ffe2740."
The Microsoft Knowledge database gives no clue.
I use Adobe Dreamweaver and need to develop a dynamic site. On a previous
machine this worked no problem.
I would appreciate any help you might be able to offer! Where can I find
more information? How is it supposed to work? What does that error message
mean. Should I not be seeing all my websites in the wwwroot folder in the
IIS Administrator?
Thank you in advance! Sincerely,
