I know this sounds fairly stupid, but is it wise to have IIS running on a Small Business Server 2000 ? Do I need this ?

IIS is a web server - its only wise to run it if you are using it to run a
website on.

There are specific groups for small business server, you might need to check
with them whether any components of SBS are using it (Exchange uses it for
example, if you use exchange).

you are the only one who knows if you need it. if you are not running a web
server on it then shut it off. if you are then you need it or some other
web server.

Yes, you need IIS on SBS. For specific answers and questions go to the
microsoft.public.backoffice.smallbiz2000 newssgroup.

Only you can know if you need it. IIS is a web server, if you have no
need for it, don't run it. Wise? Problematic maybe, but if you need
it, you really don't have a choice, do you?
