I am trying to load the option Internet Information
Services into my computer. I presently have two disks:
Reinstallation disk for Microsoft Windows XP
Professional, which when you start it, has a menu to
reload the operating system or go to options where
loading the IIS option turns up. The other CD is the
Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 1 which, the disk says,
is for Windows XP Professional.
When I get to the options on the reinstallation disk, the
menu sends me to the Start:Control Panel:Add/Remove
Programs:Add/Remove Windows Components where I can
select the IIS installation. In other words, I really
don't need to start loading IIS from the options on the
Windows XP Professional disk. While it is looking for
files and doing its thing, it says to load Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 1, not just Windows XP Service
Pack 1 which I got from Microft. I had them mail me the
CD so I could follow the instructions exactly and
literally load the CD in the drive. But, alas, the wizard
is lookng for D:\autoinst\winxp\i386 which does not exist
on the disk. So, naturally, nothing gets loaded. The
closest I can get to the above folder address is simply
D:\i386 and that doesn't seem to satisfy the wizard. I
don't think the wizard is very wizardy. Anyhow, surely
there has to be some simple answer to this. The
professional version does have IIS on its CD.
Unfortunately during the download, it wants something
from the Service Pack and it is not there. The only
answer I can think of is I have to get Windows XP
Professional Service Pack 1. But I don't know where to
get it. Can you give me the URL that lists this unique
name on it? Is there someplace I could get or buy IIS and
just download it on to my computer? Or is there some
other answer?
