I was just wondering if there was going to be a new version of IIS in vista,
and which version was going to have it. I really just need somthing that is
comparable to XP Professional Edition, I don't really want to go the Vista:
Ultimate route. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

IIS is in all editions of Windows Vista (not sure about Starter Edition),
its turned off by default though. Open Control Panel > Programs and Features
Turn On Windows Features (link) > check "Internet Information Service" and
install. I think the .NET Framework 3 might need to also be installed.

Small correction its not in the Home Basic Edition (and no its not in
Starter - confirmed)

It's still a limited version of IIS though, isn't it? Not like the like the
full thing in the server editions of Windows. I think there is a limit on
the number of websites at least..

You also have the option to install IIS 6 compatibility options. This is
very useful when you have software that depends on IIS being installed.

Yes, it is limited, but I am not sure really of actual limitations.

Thanks alot for your input, all of you. This answers my question, all I was
really interested in was the http and ftp server options. Alot of times its
easier to have a friend upload somthing to my computer rather than email. I
think I'm going to go the Home: Premium route. Thanks for your input everyone.
