I have XPPro SP1 and have been up to date with patches. I like to learn ASP and web development
Is Internet Information Server part of the XP Pro package. If not, where to get it

I am hoping the IIS can be installed on top of my current software and patches without upsetting anything

Also interested to know what limitations exist running IIS in WinXP, as opposed to a windows 2K server

Thanks for assistance provided

IIS 5.1 comes free on the XP Pro CD.

Hi,

Control Panel/Add & Remove/Windows Components, you can add IIS here. Keep in
mind that WinXP Pro has a 10 connection limit.

Yes, IIS is part of XP Pro. If it is not installed on your machine, you
can add it by going to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel, select
Add/Remove Windows Components. Once the list of Windows Components comes
up, scroll down and check Internet Information Services (IIS). Click Next
and finish out the wizard.

There have been some security patches for IIS, so you'll want to visit
windowsupdate to make sure that you are still current on your patches.

Only limitation I am aware of is the number of connections. XP will only
support 10 simultaneous connections since it is not a server OS.
