I have a simple iif formula inside an unbound textbox. I keep getting an
#Error instead of the expected results.

=IIf([Line]=1,"First Line",[Line])

1) Make sure that the Line field is included in the report's record source.

2) Check that Line is a numeric field. If it is a text field, you'll need to
add quotes around the value being compared ([Line] = "1").

3) Sometimes expressions will fail if no control on the report is bound to
one of the fields referenced in the expression. It might be necessary to add
a bound text box (bound to the 'Line' field) to the report. You can hide it
by setting its Visible property to 'No'.

Thanks for the input Brendan. I had to rename the Line field to SLine and
it worked just fine. Line must be one of those words that Access has
exclusive use of.

Actually, Line is not a reserved word.
ANY control name that is the same as the name of a field in it's
control source expression will give the #Error.
It's always a good idea to start with an unbound control when you need
to use an expression in a control (unless you are using field names
like "Text1", "Text2", etc. )
