im building another site and would like to make front page ignore the web
root itself and upload into subdirectories. the web root will contain an
..asp based interactive forum and i dont want front page to attempt to
synchronize with it each time i upload static content to the subdirectories.
any tips on this would be appreciated. i know i could use sub webs with but
dont want to upload individually to each subweb on each update. im
currently using front page 2002.
thanks,

Think about putting the forum in a subweb, then you can use the root normally (and not publish to the forum subweb unless you wanna)

hi rob,
thats exactly how i do it on my other two forums
(http://utilityoffroad.com/forum and http://7slotgrille.com/forum) but in
this case i wanted the root url to point directly to the forum. i suppose i
could set that as the default folder in IIS, ill give it a try.
thanks,

If I understand this correctly, it will not work. The forum will
still be in the web's root folder (as defined in IIS default folder),
and the existing root folder and all other folders under it (except
the forum) will disappear from the web.
Rob's idea is still sound. Use the default .asp file in the root to
redirect to the forum.
