I am attempting to retreive free/busy data in outlook without using exchange
server. I'm running in an environment with Outlook 2000 and Outlook 2002
clients.

Outlook 2002 clients are working great, but I can only see a fraction of the
free/busy data I should be able to see when using an Outlook 2000 client.

More information:

I have 3 user PCs:
PC#1) WinXP using Outlook 2002
PC#2) WinXP using Outlook 2002
PC#3) Win2k using Outlook 2000

....and 2 PCs configured as resources (in this case, conference rooms)
PC#4) Win2k using Outlook 2000
PC#5) Win2k using Outlook 2000

- All PCs are set up to publish Free/busy data to a share on the network.
- All PCs are configured with the path:
file://Servername/sharename/%name%.vfb for the publish location and the
search location.
- All PCs are configured to publish 12 months of data and refresh every
minute.

Repro:
1) Verify all PCs have published Free/Busy data to the
\\Servername\sharename location.
2) Using PC #3, attempt to invite user from PC #1 and the resource from PC#4

Result:
a) View free/busy data for PC#1 (OL2002)...you can see the entire 12 months.
b) View free/busy data for PC#4 (OL2000)...you see about a weeks worth of
data. After that, it is filled with no informaton (the thin black diagonal
lines)

If I perform the same repro on PC#1 or PC#2 (OL2002), I see the entire 12
months of data for all PCs.

It appears I can repro this this with any OL2000 PC. Does anyone know what
is going on? Is this a known issue?

Thanks in advance,

- Chris

After playing with this more, it appears an OL2000 client will show
free/busy data as far out as there is an available appointment.

As a workaround, I can schedule a recurring appointment every month, which
will then allow me to see free\busy data on OL2000. The question is why and
is there a fix?

And one other question: How far out did you set the IFB on the resource
machines under tools->options->calendar->resource scheduling?

I set it for 12 months.

With a re-occuring meeting set up it will show me the full 12 months. If I
remove the re-occuring meeting, it will only show up until the last
scheduled meeting.

Milly,

Thanks for the link. I had reviewed this page prior to posting, however.

Just in case this was a side effect of 279121, I installed the latest OL2000
service pack, but it did not help.
