Dear vista user...

Sick of tiered of strange unfriendly GUIs, slow performance and hardware
incompatibiliies?

Upgrade to windows XP ! It will breath new life into your machine :-)

You're right, of course, but I can certainly understand the frustration.
I hung in there with the beta Antispyware for a log time, but progress
was slow. Reported and known bugs weren't fixed forever. Then along came
Defender. I'm not sure what it does. On my machine it doesn't seem to do
anything. I guess it runs in the night but if it's finding anything I
don't know.
But Vista... ugh. I've installed it twice now; first as an upgrade, and
then a clean install. It's so buggy it's a pain to navigate. Windows
Explorer has always been a major tool of mine, and I haven't as yet
figured out how to get the old split pane back... where you can drag
stuff from one drive to another. I've been waiting for someone else to
mention that because I figured it was something simple. I must be right
because no one else is mentioning it.
I've only made it to the device manager once and that must have been a
stroke of luck. Screens appear with text scatterd all over and no
clickable shortcuts to anything else... I'm going to wait a while.

I have mentioned the lack of the tree view 1000 times, its a horrible idea
that they wanted to get rid of it.
After lots of complaints someone told me that they will bring the dual pane
view back in RC1....

If they dont clean up their mess... vista will be a FIASCO!

It was a joke man! A joke that contains a bitter truth though....

You are naive thinking that MS is actually listening to the people.. LOL
The reason for the betas for the masses is NOT about getting feedback!
They listen to feedback from a small selected group of people and discart
what the average joe says.
They care less if I complain or not. However for marketing purposes
releasing public betas is very smart. They gain free publicity because
every site is taking screenshots and talking about vista... gaining
momentum.
In otherwords they are using you, and you like it! Lol..

Even if I personally send them 1000 emails they will never notice, nor
change anything about vista.

*NOthing* would be introduced as late in the game as RC1. RC1 (Release
Candidate 1) is the first build deemed suitable for shipping. They're
hardly going to throw in a large new feature then.

Agreed...Tell the person that told me that.

Perhaps in the next CTP.

If they dont fix it (as I have said in the past) they will create a HUGE
uproar of
confused users who will not be able to manage thier files!

As I have said in prior posts on this subject, I was so fustrated I
installed
a 3rd party file manager just to be able to move around the files.

That's why I use the fastest file manager: FAR Manager 1.70

Do you mean the folder view in explorer? If so, load up Computer, then
on the left hand side (where you have the other locations that you can
go to) at the bottom of there, you will see a button for folder, that
will give you the tree view, if that's what you mean...

You're right on "one" point only. They will not make a change just because
10 people ask for it.

Now, if 7500 people are having the same problem - it will be acted upon.
It's all in the numbers. They work from the top to the bottom. Small,
occasionally occurring problems near the bottom of the list may never get
fixed, as they are considered inconsequential.

Are you kidding? With this lack of dual pane.... EVERYONE will have a
problem!

I cant understand how they dared hide it. Its plain stupid.

They are trying to change things so vista will not be another version of xp
and they are changing things they should not!

In any case I am sure that they will add this back.

Ill have to start my experimental machine to check that out.
Even so... its really hidden too much..
no one will find it if they do it that way.

Clicking the folder button brings back the tree view for that particular
folder. But the problem is that the tree view doesn't say put. After you
delve a few folders deep, it simply drops off the side, taking the little
"folder button" with it.

For instance, open Computer from the Start button, turn on the Folder view
with the button, then drop down a folder or two into your C drive to see it
disappear.

that sounds like a bug to me, maybe that will be fixed :)
