if the data base of my access program is locked how do i open it

I was using the access program and then I closed it, when I tried to open it
a msg appeared to indicate the data base is locked, my question is how to
open it

When Access opens, it sets up a *.ldb which locks access because it thinks
someone is using the programme. When you exit Access, the *.ldb is normally
closed unlocking the database. It is possible in certain circumstances that
the *.ldb is left open.

look in the same folder where the database *.mdb resides and see if the is a
*.ldb left open. Ensuring that no one else is logged in and that you have
backed up the *.mdb, delete the *.ldb which should free up the database again.
