I named my domain the same as my web site. My web site is hosted on another
network. This was not a problem until I find out that my company will be getting
a fractional T1 with several Static IP's an a short time. That will mean two
IP's for my domain name. . . at least I think it means that.
I can easily solve this by renaming my work domain. There are only 10
machines on it. It is a AD domain with a single server.
How do I rename ths domain? Do I demote the DC and then rename it and then
promote it again? Is that all there is to it? Surely not. There must be several
DNS issues I will need to deal with as well as who knows what else. I will take
an evening while the place is closed to do this as I can't interrupt the
business day.
Or perhaps I don't even need to deal with it at all? Help?

You can't rename your domain easily with W2k - nor do you need to. I'm not
sure why you would think you need to - your website can be accessible to
internal users if you create a host entry in your internal DNS that points
to the IP address of the website.

What I have seen happen in the past is that when I previously connected
the work domain to the net through our two-way satellite connection, is that
the private IP range of the work domain shows up in the DNS of the hosting
domain. (I run them both at different locations) . This made me think that
there would be some conflict between them once the work domain is "live" on
the net. There would be two entries for domain.com as the domain and web
site are named the same thing.
