iexplorer6, page cannot be displayed

i am having a problem with internet explorer.
i keep receiving the message, page cannot be displayed.
now i would understand this message if i could not get a
connection to the internet. however, i can connect to the
internet, i can use messenger, msn, yahoo, and i have even
been able to downloand and install netscape and confiqure
to be the default.

i can also ping a ip address as well as ping a www.xxxxx
address.

so basically what it will not do is function
i have even uninstalled and reinstalled and completed
repairs, i am up to date on all patchs hotfixes driver
updates etc with microsoft.

anybody have any suggestions.......?
 
Are you able to reach these sites using Internet Explorer?
