iexplorer.exe application error

While logged on the internet surfing with IE6 using xp
pro. on a secure site, I can pull up Adobe reader then x
out and get this message.

iexplorer.exe application error

The instruction "0x70c8d14f" referenced memory
at "0x00000000". The memory could not be "read".
Ok to close. Cancel to debug.

Then, no matter what I do the computer will lock up and I
must hold the power button until the pc turns off.

Should my new $3000.00 Dell Insp. 9100 do this? HELP!!!
 
No it shouldn't and since it is new, you should check with Dell as you are
still under warranty. Call their tech support.
