I've run Adware, with the latest 'defs', and it found nothing. How do
I restore/rebuild the "kernel" to which you refer?
message ....
[Subject: IEXPLORE, KERNEL32.DLL & 018f:bff9db61 Error]
You may need new video drivers.
I uninstalled the Nvidia drivers, rebooted the system,
reinstalled the drivers and rebooted the system but still when I
close the 'final' window
or disconnect window first after being online, I still get the
IEXPLORE error.
Also check your system for "hijackware":
The video driver cause was just a guess based on frequency of
occurrence with this symptom. These days I suspect crashes in the
kernel (even at the
magic BFF... addresses) are just as likely to be symptoms of
malware.

:
Try 'color quality' instead.

I'm running Win98se. Your step 2, I don't see an item called

look for? I have been running

definition files.
Windows version?
You may need new video drivers. Check the website of your
video board
or computer manufacturer. Meanwhile, you can do the
following:
1. Use the default mouse pointers.
2. Turn down your color depth. (Right click the desktop
and choose Properties | Appearance | Settings) Some people
find that increasing color
depth helps.
3. Turn down your graphics hardware acceleration. (Start
| Settings
Control Panel | System | Performance | Graphics button)
You will see little, if any, performance degradation.
4. Turn off your desktop wallpaper.
If these make the problem go away you need new video
drivers.
Also check your system for "hijackware":

Update your virus definitions and then run a full system
scan. From now on, do both daily.

I get the 'IEXPLORE invalid page fault/kernel32.dll'
error message if
I close down the "last" internet window to the desktop
before disconnecting
or if I disconnect and then close down the internet
window and go back
to
the desktop. I've tried the I/E repair and that didn't
fix it. I reinstalled IE6 SP1 and the updates but that
didn't fix the issue. What files might be corrupted or
what areas[registry?] should I investigate?
