re: message posting by Dave Knox 8/31/2003 - which i
don't see a reply to.

i'm getting the following error when logging off of
Internet Explorer 6 (occurs EVERY time even through a log
on and immediate log off of IE.) when i restart computer
and log on, the memory address might be a different set
of number/letters:

iexplore.exe Application Error

The instruction at "0x01a4371c" referenced memory
at "oxo1a4371c". The memory could not be "read".

i'm being told by GATEWAY that i'll have to do a complete
delete and reinstalltion of Windows XP which will inturn
reload Explorer. Isn't there anyother way to correct
this than do all that???

Help!

.
I would first try running defraging the drive, reboot,
appling all patches from MS, reboot again.

concerning my email below...i just read someone else's
application error message and it looks like it might have
to do with Spyware. i did have Spysweeper loaded, but
removed that..so does that mean something might have not
gotten removed?

Vivien,

Memory reference error in Internet Explorer are caused by spyware. Scan the
system with Ad-Aware (www.lavasoftusa.com) and eliminate the malware
products causing the abnormal program termination.
** Update the pattern file using WEB UPDATE feature in Ad-Aware **

If the problem continues, reinstall Internet Explorer using this method:
(XP)
