Hello,
I have a machine that all of a sudden is browsing the
internet very slow, however general network file
transfering is fine. I checked the taskmanager and sure
enough the CPU is hitting 100% when iexplore.exe is ran
and a web page is trying to come up. It will stay at 100%
until the page is completely loaded. I have never seen it
act like this before, I ended unneccessary 3rd party
programs running in task manager but it made no difference.
I appreciate any ideas.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply Frank. I just ran the spybot search
and destroy and it did find some problems, the one I was
most familiar with was the Gator program was installed.
The program did fix all errors and I rebooted. However
the issue still exists, it takes almost 20-30 seconds to
fully open a web page, only happening on this machine.
Any other suggestions would be great.
Thanks I appreciate it.

Try AdAware. It will catch some things SpyBot won't. If that doesn't fix
it follow the instructions and use HijackThis.

Update Ad-Aware before running it. Additionally, use BHODaemon and disable
unwanted browser helper plugins:

Similar problem with long wait was cured by Sender: <[email protected]> in a
message this day.

Check the registry key he quoted, the reference to re75d9c4 and red81542
etc... may be random generated file name. There could also be a .reg file in
the computer generating these files.

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
Entries:
re75d9c4 "rundll32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RE75D9C4.DLL,EnableRunDLL32"
reb69df2 "rundll32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RE75D9C4.DLL,EnableRunDLL32"
red81542 "rundll32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\RE75D9C4.DLL,EnableRunDLL32"
refe744f "rundll32.exe

If still no joy I would get the help from the expert at this forum.

Go to http://www.spywareinfo.com/downloads.php#det
Download "Hijack This!" [freeware] or download direct (below):
http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

If you get a 404 error or Access denied, try:
http://216.180.252.218/~spywareinfo.com/downloads/tools/hijackthis.zip

Unzip, double-click "HijackThis.exe" and Press "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log"
button.
Click: "Save Log" (generates "hijackthis.log")

Next, HijackThis | Config [button] | Misc Tools [button]
Click: Generate StartupList log [button] (generates "startuplist.txt")

Next, go to the below location:
http://www.spywareinfo.com/forums/

Sign in, then copy and paste both files in your message.

I've been experiencing the same problem over the last 2
weeks.

It looks like the problem is being caused by Hotmail. As
soon as I log out of Hotmail CPU utilisation drops back to
normal, ~ <5%.

Let me know if it's the same for you?

Try this

Okay this was a hard one and I never would have thought about it.

What I did.

* scanned for spyware
* scanned for virus
* disabled all startup item
* disabled all securtiy settings
* did some registry changes
* installed IE7 over what I have, ver 6
* sfc /scannow
* copied files from CD
* checked hardware settings

Finally changed the virtual memory, bang it worked. Then it failed again. And the sad part is, use Firefox for now. Then reload the OS.

Hotmail Banner Ad using Shockwave

I have the same problem with a Sprint Nextel banner ad on a Hotmail page. The Sprint Nextel ad uses Adobe Shockwave to continuously animate the banner ad and pegs my CPU usage at 100%. If I disable Shockwave, the problem goes away.

To disable Shockwave: click on Tools | select Internet Options | select Programs | Select the Programs tab | select Manage addons | highlight Shockwave Flash object | select disable | and then OK your way out.

IE says you may have to restart IE, but I don't have to.

IE 7.0.5730.13IS
