I have a DSL connection and when away for more than an hour I return to find
multiple instances of an 'Iexplore' panel. It is associated with the
message: System error Code 5 Access is denied. This issue is new. Much
thanks for any guidance in its solution.

Hi Maurice,
As you didn't mention the OS type or the IE version this the only think I
can offer to you.
Read this links and see if apply to you:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;329065
If no Joy still try this:
Please note that Editing the Registery in the wrong way can Render your
machine useless so back-up the Registery.
Open the Command Prompt and type in : regedit32.exe or (regedit.exe) Click OK
Navigate to the following Key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\Services\LanmanServer\Parameters.
In the Right Pane or [Window] Click on Enable0plocks and press Enter or [OK].
In the Value Data Box type: 0 for Zero and Press Enter or [OK].
Exit the Registry Editor and Reboot your Machine.
Hope this helps
