I note there have been a number of posts Re. this problem, but have yet
to find a solution.

So far I have reverted to IE5 and then re-installed IE6 with all
available patches from microsoft updates site. Also tried CWS shredder
as problem coincided with coolwebsearch attack.

I'm a computer user rather than enthusiast so nothing too technical
please.

Help!

Thanks for that. I ran the hijack thing, was a little disturbed by the
suggestion that the list if stuff it picked up should be shown to
someone who knows what they are doing before deleting anything, but
found that I at least vaguely recognised some of the entries as stuff
which probably should be there (many had 'semantec', 'webshots' or
other known words in the file name). However one contained the phrase
<noname> so I reasoned it must have something to hide and deleted it.

When I restarted the machine it flagged up that there was a security
update available for IE6 so I installed that and so far the problem
does not seem to have recurred (touch wood!).
