IEEE1394 vrs USB

Ihave Iee1394 inputs to my Dell. My Sony came with a USB cable, their
Ilink 1394 cable is extra. Should I just use the USB connector?

No, you need the firewire (iLink) cable to get full DV-AVI files
transferred.
