Hi,
My Mimaki JV3 130 SL looses contact with the computer and crashes in the
middel of printing. Are there any settings in the IEEE port I can change?
Running Core2 6300, 1G Ram, WinXP, SP2
Thanks,

Presuming you actually mean the Parallel port, yes, you may make
settings changes in Device Manager, it is the "LPT" port there.

The Printer is hooked up by FireWire. The printer say's its lost contact with
the computer. Sweded 1960

Then you might want to look in device manager at the 1394 connection
properties for a "Power Management" tab. On that tab is a tick bow to
allow the computer to turn it off to save power. UNcheck it.

Hi, Bob
Couldn't find any "power management" tab on the IEEE port or in divice
manager. Power management is set to always on, for disks and system. I did do
a change now under the "Prefomance Options" tab, Memory usage, to adjust for
best preformance of System cache. My thoughts of it has to be something deep
in the system.
The printer lost contact again other day again, I left the computer alone (I
now have a fear of the printer crashing) for 10min, but it still crashed the
middle of a large print. I do have auto save on in FlexisignPro8, my design
and print program. Do you think autosave could be the problem, it can take 30
to 2 min or longer for flexi to save large bitmaps and work files. The tech
changed the firewire card the other day... to see if it helps.
I might have to set up a second computer which runs the print manager only
and nothing else. Sitting at work on a beutiful Sunday in Perth, Aus.

Thanks for the suggestions, Bob

You could try disable the "Autosave" feature, and see if the issue
continues. The "Power Management" I was refering to, will be found in
Device Manager, then right click the 1394 and pick Properties, and look
for the tab there. It may or may not have one.

Thanks,

Please note that I have seen 3 different IEEE ports on PC now:

1) IEEE 1284 -- parallel port

2) IEEE 1934a -- firewire 400

3) IEEE 1934b -- firewire 800

Note: Firewire can also be known as I.Link.

A standard suggestion for "connection" problems that were working
correctly before but not anymore, try replacing the cable that links
the unit to the PC. This is "usually" the cause of most "lost"
connections.

BTW: I have not seen any "firewire" based printers yet. How do well
does/did this unit work?

Hi,

I have the same problem you have in Feb. this year.

I found your text in microsoft.public.windowsxp.hardware.

You said you have a connecting problem with your PC and your MIMAKI
JV3 130.

I also have a JV3 130 and have the same problem. Did you have the
solution for the problem. ???
