IEEE 1394 thing and hook up! HELP!

Okay, I'm only 15 and I'm trying to figure out if my computer can be hooked up with this cable thing. I understand I need an IEEE 1394 capture card to hook up my camera to my computer. Is this true? Do I need it? If so, how do I find out if my computer can hook up to it?

I'm guessing you do not have the cable or you'd be trying to see what it
would plug into?

Tell us the model of the computer so we can look it up to see if it came
with the card or not.
