IEEE 1394 firewire card

Since I upgraded to xp pro, my firewire connection no
longer works. (It was a firewire supplied with Pinnacle
software, and they are unable to assist me.)

I am willing to purchase a new firewire, but want to be
SURE I get one which works with pro. Anyone have a
suggestion?
 
Turn off the PC and remove the card.

Restart the PC......

Then re-turn off the PC and reinsert the card. XP should now re-detect it
and reinstall it. No drivers should be necessary, they are included in XP.

I also have the same problem, using both a firewire hard
drive and a digital video camera, win xp pro (sp1) cant
see the devices attached.

I have been sent the hotfix (microsoft knowledge base
article 329256) but still nothing. Have tried several
different ca

same problem, new notebook acer 290lci with 1394. not recogniced. xp home
SP1, windowsupdate done.
VIA says, that the driver is from microsoft.
any solution?
in my desktop (dell: xp pro SP1), the firewire is working well. same file
versions for *1394*.sys.
