Hi,
have updated to IE8 from IE7, and its a bit buggy, keep getting pop up "ie
has to close" etc, even when closing normally.

Have been on web and it seems to be a problem without a solution,
any ideas to stop this?

Also IE8 cannot be removed, why is this?

What Service Pack level were you at when you updated IE7 to IE8?

What Service Pack level were you at when you updated IE6 to IE7?

Have you tried the "alternative steps" to uninstall IE listed here?:

What is the malware status of your PC? What anti-malware programs do you
use and are do they all have the most recent definitions?
 
Thanks guys,
as suggested by Leonard, it was an add-on ie. "advanced search bar" which I
have removed, and that seems to have fixed the problem.

My IE8 is now working ok, having removed the conflict.

I don't know exactly what the 'advanced search bar' is, but you should
know that malware infections often add a search bar to Internet
Explorer. You may want to scan the computer for malware.
 
Thanks, have done that and all seems to be clear and computer is now ok and
runs faster.
