Currently My Vista Home Premium SP1, 32bit, has IE7 running and I downloaded
IE8 from the official MS site.
Questions:
1. Is it advisible to have IE8 in my system? And if so,
2. Can I just install IE8 over the old version, or is there a special
procedure? And if so,
3. What does it consist of?

Open-Minded.

In a previous post you stated that you were going away. What happened?
Enjoy the forum to much?

If you go back to the Official IE8 download site it will show what it is
compatible with and even
give you instructions for installation.
You are aware it is still in BETA stage even if they call it Release
Candidate 1 or 2 .
and as such there is a Special Newsgroup for it...the same download site
will list the newsgroup.

Imagine how much time you would have saved if you'd actually looked around
the site and read all of the info
available.........

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Imagine how much time we'd all save if people like you were more interested
in helping other users and less interested in nitpicking and making snide
comments.

webster72n,
Hi my name’s Feran and I’m working with the Internet Explorer Outreach
Team to provide assistance and help answer questions people might have
about Internet Explorer.
Like Peter said, you can download IE8 RC1 at the official Microsoft
site, where it will also tell you what operating systems it is
compatible with: 'Get Internet Explorer 7'
To stay updated for when they announce the official release of the
final version of IE8 I would suggest keeping an eye on the IEBlog as
they will post something as soon as it’s released to the public :
'IEBlog' (http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/)
I hope this helps,
Feran
Internet Explorer Outreach Team

Who are you people? Are you Microsoft employees? If so, why are you posting
using a Usenet gateway that leeches posts instead of a real newsreader?

Its NOT in beta at all, you do understand the difference between BETA
'Software release life cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia'
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beta_version#Beta) and Release Candidate
'Software release life cycle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia'
(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Release_candidate#Release_candidate) dont
you ?

Funny, MS still has it URL'ed that way:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/beta/worldwide-sites.aspx

Here's what MS has to say about RC software: 'RC1 is short for
"Release Candidate 1". Release candidate software is ready to be
evaluated by users while it undergoes final testing. You may
experience minor bugs or compatibility issues with websites while
browsing"

But those on the street know it's a bug ridden POS, like most RC1
software from MS. If you ever participated in a BETA product test
cycle with MS, you'd be very aware of why.

Yeah - I saw "Hi my name’s Feran and I’m working with the Internet Explorer
Outreach Team" and "vBulletin USENET gateway" and my only thought was SCAM.
