IE7 wont uninstall

I'm trying to uninstall IE7 with all it's headaches and
can't. It's not listeded under Start/Programs or Add-Remove
programs. We can't add our dial-up ISP with IE7 installed.
PLEASE how do I end this nightmare so I can get some work
done?
 
Check the show updates box at the top of the add/remove programs window and
see if it shows up

I honestly don't remember. We've both been working on it for many hours and
have both lost sleep. We're having so much trouble since installing IE7 my
husband ended up doing a System Recovery (not System Restore). That got rid
of it, but now WindowsDefender can't update itself. I get this error: "Error
Code 0x8004015 so the problems continue. Now what do I do about
WindowsDefender?
