IE7 something to watch out for

In a bunch of new installs I've done lately, everything
runs great until I download IE7. Then, when I start IE7,
all I get is a big white screen with toolbar at top and
an hourglass mouse just sitting there. I've discovered
that the problem is the IE7 Phishing Filter is trying to
snoop a site ( like Google ) and these sites are blocking
that snoop ... so IE7 just sits there doing nothing. If
you run into this, go to START ... RClick the IE7 icon
at the top of the small screen that opens, and select
PROPERTIES. Click ADVANCED at top, and on the
next screen, click RESET. That will get rid of the
PHISHING FILTER ... and also your other IE7 settings.
Close IE7 and restart it. IE7 will do the Microsoft
Home Page thing again, and THIS TIME don't check
that DAMN PHISHING FILTER box. You'll be fine.
Stupid morons. Microsoft wants to snoop all the
servers on Google, and verify the site for 300 billion
computers.

Then don't download IE7.

Seemed like a good idea at the time ... Now, the
stinking thing amounts to a DNS attack on web
sites ... esp Google, and they've started blocking
it somehow. I first saw this thing on my home PC
several weeks after dling it. Only reason I knew
it was the Phishing Filter, is there's a small box
at the bottom bar, showing web activity. Put the
mouse on it, and I got the message that the
"Phishing Filter was examinng this site". It was
examining USENET for pete's sake. I thought it
had crashed my home box, but then it finally
cleared up. It did the same thing on a couple
more sites, and then OK'd them. Screw this!
It will turn browsing into a pain. So, for all the
new installs, if you had IE6 homepage set to
a monster site like Google, IE7 will appear to
be crashed when you first access it. And no
way can you turn the Phishing Filter off from
within IE7 .... only by doing what I said ... Rclick
on that Icon in the START menu ...

My problem with Internet Explorer 7 had something to do with video.
For some reason, text wouldn't select properly in web pages. Not sure
what it was, didn't want to spend the time trying to figure it out.
Since I keep hidden copies of Windows, I had no trouble nuking the
Internet Explorer 7 installation.

There is a fix for the pishing filter on the MS download site apologies if I
don't search for the URL but I've not long come from the office Christmas do
an I'm feeling a bit 'tired and emotional'. ;o)

Funny part is that I haven't seen that problem intalling IE7 - but a bunch
of other crazy stuff :)
