Suddenly when I boot up I get a screen asking me to download IE7. Is there a
way to keep this thing from showing up?

What is the malware/virus status of the machine? If you think it is clean,
what programs (and versions) did you use to determine this?

Be sure the computer is clean:

Do not *assume* the machine is clean because you have
Norton/McAfee/Panda/PC-Cillin installed. *Check* as outlined at the link
above.

I have run Ad-Aware, Aro Spyware, Ausologics Boost Speed, AVG8., Spybot S&D,
RegCure, and Clean Disc. All my programs run fine - no problem. It's just
that the IE7 screen shows up each time I boot.

Half the stuff you've got in that list is snake oil. You're obviously a
person who uses registry cleaners so all bets are off as far as I'm
concerned.

You can try managing your Startup. The reason I asked you about the malware
status of the machine is that in all the many years I've been working with
Windows, I've never seen a prompt to install IE7 at startup. Of course, if
you had told us what you had already tried in your first post I wouldn't
have given you the answer I did. There's probably some history to this
machine which you've also forgotten to mention. I can't guess. If the
Startup management doesn't work, perhaps you had a failed install of IE7
and should be using the Windows Installer Clean Up Utility. Or perhaps a
System Restore to a time before you did whatever it was you did.

Start>Run>msconfig [enter]

This brings up the System Configuration Utility. Look on the Startup tab and
find the probable culprit. Uncheck the box next to its name, Apply and OK
out. You don't need to restart immediately, but the next time you do you'll
get a dialog saying you've used the Utility. Just tick the box that says in
effect, "don't bother me about this again".

Important - Do not use the System Configuration Utility to stop processes.
Instead, use Start>Run>services.msc [enter] and do not stop any services
unless you really, really know what you're doing.

The free Autoruns program is very useful for managing your Startup -

Good luck and sorry that I couldn't help you.
