I have successfully run the Beta on a test machine with positive
results for a while now.
All the tools and info should be in Dave Massy's Blog, below;

Enjoy!

I've had IE 7 RC1 installed for about 5 weeks now with no trouble.
I don't use it very often as Firefox is my default browser. IE 7 is
certainly a radical departure from previous IE builds. I still say Firefox
is a far better browser simply because it is so customizable.

I am beta testing it now
it is not that bad compared to what i expected but it still needs some work

I agree with exactly what you said

Brandon,

IE7 Is Coming... Are you Ready?

No way! I don't do "gamma" testing. I will wait till at least the 4th or
5th Patch Tuesday after it's released or maybe IE7 SP1[the "delta" release].
Same with Vista, not gonna touch it till SP1 is released. Microsoft is too
willing to release a product to meet a dead line, and than fix it later. In
fact I'm telling people who are thinking of getting a new computer to get it
soon with XP before Vista is released, "Get the most powerful machine you
can before the release, than upgrade to Vista Delta [SP1] after the bugs are
ironed out".

Basically I don't do Beta testing or first release of anything. Defender is
the only exception because I was tricked into thinking MS AntiSpy Beta 1 was
being replaced by MS AntiSpy Beta 2 NOT W/DEFENDER Alpha 1. MSAS b1 was so
stable that I was willing to give MSAS b2 a chance.

On a more serious note, I've heard that IE7 might have some problems with
the Yahoo ToolBar/Companion, which is part of my daily life. I'll do some
reading of how it's going after the "gamma"[public] release and think about
it then.

Of course if MS would fix the buggyness of Defender sooner rather than
latter I might be willing to reconsider.

I was using IE7 rc1 along with Windows Live One Care. I started having some
problems with my AOL software (unknown cause) and reinstalling AOL did not
fix my problem. I decided to uninstall IE7 and One Care, and when I did, IE6
was very messed up. I decided it would be easiest for me to just reinstall
Windows and start over. BTW - I replaced One Care with KIS 6.0. Much
better! Rignt now, I'm not really enthoused about IE7, because you can't do
a repair install of Windows once it's installed. I don't what or how, but
obviously Windows was corrupted by something. All is well again now. Is
there any chance that Microsoft will release an XP SP3 with IE7 included and
make a CD available?

I'm not a big fan of beta testing either, but I decided to install IE
7 RC1 because IE 6 SP2 has so many security problems.

I haven't used Internet Explorer in a very long time, so I have no
intention of upgrading to IE7. If it's coming by autoupdate, so be it,
but I am not going to use it anyway...

Hello.
I've downloaded IE7 a few days ago, now I'm trying to enter in the Microsoft
update site and I'm getting the error 0x80248013
Does anyone know what it is and what do I have to do to overcome it?
(I've never had a problem with that site using IE6)
Thank you.

It may be an issue related to IE7 or Windows Update.

Beta testers of IE7 Public Preview are asked to post their comments & questions
to and seek support in microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general newsgroup.
On the web:

In your newsreader:

Good luck!

Hi Randy.
As a follow up, when I try to manually update Windows Defender, I'm getting
the same error code in a bottom right cloud.
Did you try to run the Microsoft update's page today? Is it OK with you (and
other readers)?
Also, for your info, I've posted my trouble in the proper newsgroup but
there are no answers yet.
Cheers,
Steffo

Hi Stu!
Thank you very much for your help: I followed that article's instructions
and everything's fine now!
Bye for now!

Will Windows Mail be an entirely separate release?

Still currently in Beta, Jim and yes, it will be introduced
separately.
