IE7 Information Bar missing

A couple of days ago, I noticed that the "Open in new tab" option was missing
from the right-click menu for links on one of my PCs. One of the suggested
solutions was to apply the defaults for security and privacy options. When I
applied these options, the information bar stopped appearing, meaning I now
can't run ActiveX when prompted, as I don't see the prompt.

I have tried the following suggestions to resolve this, but nothing has
worked so far:
- adjusting Tools/Internet Options/Security (Automatic Prompting etc.)
- OLEFix
and probably others that I can't remember. I don't want to leave me system
at a low security level, but I also want the option of running ActiveX when I
need to (e.g. Windows Update).

Any other suggestions?

WinXP SP3, IE7, latest updates applied

Hi Glenn Morgan,

To bring back the information bar
open IE->tools->Internet option->Privacu tab->check the box "pop up blocker" then click on the settings->check the "show information bar when pop up is blocked"

Hopefully that will bring back the information bar

That brought back the information bar when a pop-up is blocked, but it still
doesn't appear when ActiveX is blocked. I've tried a few things for that, but
nothing has worked yet.

By the way, I also posted this on the Windows XP General newsgroup (with the
same title), and have had a few responses there. The latest is that I have
uninstalled SP3 and IE7, which seemed to have fixed the problem. I'm now
reinstalling SP3 to see if the problem stays away.

Thanks for your suggestion. If you have any others, could you post them on
the General newsgroup please? That way, everything's in one place. Thanks
again.
