Hi,
I installed IE 7 a while ago but it frequently closes I have even had
trouble just trying to get onto Microsoft.com without it closing a couple of
times. I have the lastest SP2 and Norton 2006. What should I do. This is
getting extremely annoying especially when I have to open and reopen IE
several times knowing that it will eventually close.

Thanks,
Nick

Hello,

This newsgroup is for IE 6 questions.

Anyway, for your issue, you can try disabling all add-ons and see whether
the problems persists. If it goes off, enable each add-on one-by-one till
the problem comes back and you know which one is causing the problem.

After nailing the culprit, you can try reinstalling that add-on or disabling
it from ever loading again.

For IE6, its Tools > Manage Add-Ons. Not sure about ie7, but I know you have
to press the "Alt" key for the menu bar to show.

Norton and IE7 do not play nicely together. I would get rid of Norton, but
don't replace it with McAfee. Besides that, I know of two causes for the
vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.
