IE7 doesn't work with American Express logon under Vista B2

Received normal email from AMEX that my current statement was available
online. Went to their site to print it and couldn't logon. It is one of
those financial sites where only the part of the page where you logon is
secure. After the logon (java script) processes successfully you are
logged on at their secure (https) page. However, the logon and transfer to
the secure page fails with a message that the web address is unavailable.

Just to determine if I was having actual network problems I downloaded and
installed the new Opera 9.0 browser. Using Opera I was able to logon to
AMEX with no problem. Something appears to be broken (or new security or
other options make it look broken) in I.E. 7 regarding at least one
financial website. Using I.E. 7 beta 2 under WIN/XP I never had any
problems like this.

Anyone else had a similar problem?

BTW I tried running I.E.7 as administrator but had the same problem.

This concern has been covered many times in the "internetexplorer.general"
newsgroup. I don't remember the exact work around at the moment since I
haven't had this problem.

Some financial institutions do not allow access with any beta version of any
browser. Mine doesn't. Just use IE6 from your regular computer and not
your test box.

Sorry, I ougth to write "TLS 1.0."
Thanks! That got it working again. What's the story? Is TLS 1.0 an older
security protocol? How come it's enabled by default? I guess the specifics
don't really matter. I'm just glad to get it working. Windows Vista Beta 2
has worked so well for me that I've promoted it from stand-alone test
machine status to become my secondary computer.
