IE7 Application Error when closing last IE Tab

On both my desktop running XP-media and laptop running XP-Home every time I
close the last IE7 tab I get the following error whether I'm on or off line

Application Error
The instruction at " xxxxxxxxxx " referenced memory at " xxxxxxxxxx "
The memory could not be " read "
Click on OK to terminate the program

The addresses differ each time I close IE7

If I don't allow third-party extensions (which causes my Google toolbar to
vanish)or if I deselect the Google toolbar, the error on closing does not
happen.

Since this did not happen with IE6, it appears to be a third-party extension
problem unique to IE7 and therefore a bug.

I would report this as a bug to Microsoft if I knew how. I signed up to
provide feedback when I installed IE7 but no instructions as to how to do so
were provided.

If third-party taskbars always cause this error on closing IE7, just think
of the millions of people who must be getting this error.

Can anybody tell me how I can use the Google toolbar and not get this error
on closing IE7?

I know of two causes for the vast majority of such problems:
1. Incompatible add-ons: What if you right click the IE icon on the desktop
and choose Start Without Add-ons?
Or go to Start | All Programs | Accessories | System Tools | Internet
Explorer (No Add-ons).

2. Malware already installed on the computer: Help with malware

So How Did I Get Infected Anyway?
For quite a few people it's by installing Messenger Plus, whose ads for
malware don't identify the malware as such and try to convince you that you
owe it to the author. See also:

Don't ever do a "default" install of anything. Always choose Custom and see
what else is being carried along. Don't install any extras you're not sure
of.

Thanks for your reply, Frank, but you seem to have missed the point which is
"how can I can use the Google toolbar and not get this
error on closing IE7?" not "how can I use IE without the Google toolbar or
any other add-on?".

Uninstall the Google toolbar and then reinstall the newest version.
