Does anyone know if you can run IE7 and IE6 on the same computer, if so how?
1. You can sort of have several versions installed at once, as
described at
http://labs.insert-title.com/labs/article795.aspx . There
are some limitations to this technique, but it is good enough for much
testing.
2. You can use Microsoft's Virtual PC, a product that is now free, to
install multiple virtual versions of Windows, each with its own browser,
on Windows XP SP2 and (I think) Server 2003. I have three copies of
Windows 98 virtually installed on my Windows XP machine, one with IE
5.01 (plus IE 4 using IE5's IE4 compatibility mode), one with IE 5.5,
and one with IE 6.0. There is a gotcha, however: Microsoft wants you
to have a license for each virtual instance of Windows that you have
installed. This could amount to many $$$ just to do something you can
do with all the other browsers for free. Not nice, Microsoft.
3. You can partition your HD and install multiple versions of Windows
on your PC. This is less convenient than (2), because you have to
reboot each time you want to test with a different version.
