I use Win98SE, am trying to upgrade to IE6SP1 from IE5.0. My CD drive won't
recognize the IE upgrade CD. I get an error msg about D:\ device not ready.
But the drive works properly with other CDs.

What to do?

The error is stating that it cant read any removable media. ie. a CD

2 things you need to check:
First - is the CD clean - just check for fingerprints smudges or scratches
Second - are you sure it is a CD? Usually when installing from a CD people
are using the disks from PC magazines, and some of them have just started to
use DVD not CD's

cheers

Are you sure the CD is not a Rewritable one??? CD-RW
or a DVD
or other kind

Maybe you need a faster CD reader

:(

ismael - I am really perplexed by your comments. Firstly I had already
suggested the chance of it being a DVD not CD, but to suggest that a CD-RW
will have an issue or that they need a faster CD-Rom is kinda crazy. Unless
you've had experiences like that, pls let me know if you have I'd be very
interested to know the details to add to my own knowledgebase that i run
