I ahve IE 6 on a Win 98se system. IE 6 will not save my
settings when I exit, (ie. when I customize the tool bar
by removing the link bar and making the icons small with
no text) Every time i restart the computer it reverts to
the default settings so I have to make the changes all
over again. Also the search box on left of window is open
every time I start the program. Shouldn't IE 6 retain my
settings when I exit, I know 5.5 did? How can I correct
this problem? Thanks!!!!

Did you uncheck Lock Toolbars?

Yes, I unchecked lock the toolbar and I unchecked links,
but the links show up again on restart.

It shouldn't Don't know why it does. I keep my most used Favorites on the
Links bar.

Was your IE initially customized?
If so there will be registry entries which cause Favorites
which were created by the customization to be regenerated.
