I am running Windows XP Home edition and am on broadband.
I get all the Windows updates and download them whenever
I am notified! Since the latest one, I have not been able
to use the address bar to do a search. The address bar
sees the search term as an internet address and obviously
the search fails ("The page cannot be displayed"). I have
clicked on the Search button as Microsoft says, but am
not given an option to 'Change preferences'. There is
only a 'Customize' option, but no matter how many times I
tell the Autosearch to use google for address bar
searches, nothing is changed. I have the correct options
in the Internet Tools section (in fact I had never had
cause to change any of the settings, apart from initially
making "just display the results in the main window" the
default
I have IE6 (release 6.0.2800.1106.xpsp2.030422.1633IS,
128 bit).
Is this a known fault? What can be done to restore the
address bar search function?
