Since installing SP2, I have not been able to keep signed in, when the site
I'm visiting offers that option. Any ideas how to correct this problem or
what's causing it would be greatly appreciated.
I have posted this question to numerous msg boards, newsgroups etc. and
while I do recieve answers, nothing suggested has worked so far.
Thanks,
Dave

Could you please describe more completely what you mean?

Hi Frank,

I'll try to be as concise and clear as possible. Lets say I login to MY
MSN, click the button to "sign me in automatically". I keep the IE window
open or minimize it, and after a period of time, if I try to refresh or
maximize the window, I will again get the login screen. This period of time
varies, sometimes I can reboot the computer, open IE and go to my homepage
(MY MSN) without having to Login again, other times I have to log in
everytime. I can shut it down at nite and boot up in the morning and
sometimes startup IE and it will go to my homepage without a login. Go
Figure! The same thing has been happening with my login to ebay.

I have manually deleted the cookies, cleared the temp folder, ran Pest
Patrol, SpyBot, Bullet Proof, Adaware, and Norton Anti Virus on this system.
I have also done the same in SAFE mode. I have no virus, adware or spyware
on this system. All items in the Tools Internet section are set at
defaults. I have also tried to add all MSN sites and Passport sites to a
trusted list....that didn't help. I have it set to accept all cookies ...
that didn't help. I have tried repairing IE using MS Knowledge Base. I
have also changed the registry so that it does not show IE installed and
reinstalling it.

It's become very irritating to have to login the majority of the time. If
you know of any fix, please let me know. I dread the thought of reformating
and reloading all the software that I use. I suppose I'll have to as a last
resort. Thanks for your reply and any suggestions you might have.

Regards,
Dave B

The only fix that comes to my mind is to delete any MSN cookies, but I see
you have already done that.
I'll keep playing sith it for a bit.

I would suggest that you have a corrupt cookie, or the cookie folder in its
entirety is corrupt. For advice on how to fix your problem, have a look at
the URL below:
http://inetexplorer.mvps.org/answers.htm#cookies

By the way, the 'sign me in automatically' option for MSN/Hotmail has not
worked for a long time; the fact that it did for you for a while is simply
another indication of a corrupt cookie folder (as distinct to simply a
corrupt cookie).

It works for me if it hasn't been too long since I've been there. So far I
haven't really figured out what "too long" is.

Lets say I login to MY MSN, click the button to "sign me in automatically".

That checkbox in a Passport login never seems to do anything for me.
What happens differently if you don't use it?
