IE6 warning dialogs problem

I seem to have a very strange set-up whereby when I set any
security settings to "prompt", the prompt never appears. It
seems that effectively the default option is selected for
me. This means that, for instance, I can't use google
(or any other non-encrypted web form) with the 'Submit
nonencrypted form data' option set to 'Prompt'

The same problem seems to occur if I have to go through a
proxy - the dialog never appears!

Any light shed would be appreciated.

Close all instances of IE & OE > Internet Options > reset all to <default >
See if that improves your situation.
