On w2k there is Start-WindowsUpdate button to the recent windows updates. Do
they cover IE6 updates there or I need to go elswhere to download IE6
updates?

Does this mean that if I installed all the updates automatically found
there, I do not need to do anything special for IE6.
Thing is my IE6 started producing errors "cannot find a server or DNS
server" on some well known servers as google.com so I thought I need some
update on it.

Thanks.I'll do what you suggested
Meanwhile, could this have anything to do with a network card?
Near same time I started having problems with accessing some website, I
found out that this computer would not be pinged from another computer on my
home network (request timed out). This however does not prevent thios
computer from
accessing other websites and receive emails

aa,
Could be a bad NIC, I suppose. If it's a network or config issue, I won't be
of any help <G>

If no one else jumps in here, you might post this at http://forum.mvps.org/
at the Internet Explorer, Outlook & Outlook Express forum, I'd guess. There
are some very knowledgeable people there.

Hi,
Updating iE won't fix this.
See: http://www.mvps.org/inetexplorer/answers2.htm#dns
Try the quick, easy things first:
Clear the cache and set it's size to about 50MB.(Internet Options> General)
Run Ad-aware and/or Spybot. http://mvps.org/winhelp2002/unwanted.htm
Try LSP-Fix (a free program to repair damaged Winsock 2 stacks)
http://www.cexx.org/lspfix.htm

Updates to IE should also be available at Windows Update.

You may have to reinstall the Dial Up Connection.

A search on google.
