IE6 toolbars missing (sometimes) after deleting adware.

I run IE6 SP1 with Windows 2000

Windows Defender(Beta 2) has succesfully removed an additional search
toolbar that was Adware. This is now gone. However, I also appear to have
lost the main toolbar with the File, Edit, View etc AND the toolbar with
Back, Home, Refresh, Search, Favourites etc. My Google toolbar remains OK.
So far I have tried the following, with no luck, to get my toolbars back.

1) In the change/remove programs doing a IE fix.

2) Reinstalling IE6 over the existing installation.

3) Clicking on View, Toolbars.

4) Doing the Google toolbar restore which makes no difference.

I have however discovered that if I try and add a website to my favourites
using a left click, it will not do it, but closes the browser automatically
and reopens a normal browser with all the correct toolbars in place that
functions completely normally.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many Thanks, Mike

Toolbars missing in Windows Explorer or Internet Explorer

Try pressing F11.

If no joy, try running this little program:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/ToolbarRepair.Exe
This little app should repair the registry entries that have become fouled
up.

Or, manually, courtesy of Doug Knox, MVP:

Close any open Internet Explorer and Windows Explorer windows.

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT

Go to:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Toolbar

There are 3 sub keys: Explorer, ShellBrowser, WebBrowser

In each of these sub-keys is the entry for ITBarLayout

For IE Toolbars: The WebBrowser Sub-key directly affects IE.
For Windows Explorer Toolbars: The Explorer Sub-key directly affects
Explorer.
The ShellBrowser sub-key may affect IE as well. Its effect on IE and
Windows Explorer is unknown at this time, so if the first option doesn't
work, delete the ITBarLayout value here as well.

Choose the relevant sub-key and right click where it says ITBarLayout and
select Delete.

The deleted value will automatically be recreated for you.

You may want to right click on the main key (above) and select Export. This
will allow you to backup the contents of the whole key, including subkeys.
